Silence
I feel the wind across my face
A soft touch, a gentle touch
Why does it need whisper so much
when I can feel it on my face?
I see the fall leaves dancing round
Spinning leaves, dancing leaves
Their colors pleasant to eye that sees
but why do they make no sound?
Silence is all around me
Yet noise of things surround me
I can see it, feel it, taste it, smell it,
but when it comes to sound so near,
Why is Silence all that I hear?
The water sparkles so brightly
Clear waves, rippling waves
Around my feet it softly raves
Yet softness is heard so lightly
The cry of baby so small and dear
A soft sound, a gentle sound
Its sweet call fails to ring around
Even though I do stand so near
Silence is all around me
Yet noise of things surround me
I can see it, feel it, taste it, smell it,
but when it comes to sound so near,
Why is Silence all that I hear?
The sound of child's laughter
The bird's song, gentle song
Longing for these is not wrong
Yet why is Silence hereafter?
All around has become quiet
No sound, naught to hear
Even my voice doesn't touch my ear
The world I knew is now all Silent
A soft touch, a gentle touch
Why does it need whisper so much
when I can feel it on my face?
I see the fall leaves dancing round
Spinning leaves, dancing leaves
Their colors pleasant to eye that sees
but why do they make no sound?
Silence is all around me
Yet noise of things surround me
I can see it, feel it, taste it, smell it,

Fiddler of the Night
A lone shadow dances gaily under the moonlight
Playing a fiddle, prancing and dancing in the night
The sight of her charms and her music sways hearts
She plays for joy and pleasure, she leaps like a hart.
~
But lo another shadow comes with the sound of drum!
He follows her shadow to and fro, beating with a steady hum.
She leaps for joy, he spins in delight, following her every move
They play together in the night, enchantment need not prove.
~
What sound now reaches ears? Another drum of the night?
Its sound deep and strong, playing, growing with great might.
Now two drummers of the night stand by the fiddle player
They compete against each other to win her good favor.
~
She plays the melody with thriving joy, and they a steady beat
She spins and dances while fiddling, and they drumming do meet
They circle her and beat their drums while she plays the song
Each hoping he’ll gain her interest, they beat drums loud and strong.
~
Ah now the test! The fiddler stops and suddenly changes tunes
She leans close to one drummer to better hear his enduring boom
Then she prances to the other to watch his drumming swell
And dances when both past the test drumming along so well.
~
Now the fiddler plays a last note then vanishes from sight
And the drummers weep and wane away in the closing night
If one will sometime listen to the dark and calm night’s wind
They may hear the drums and know that the fiddler did descend.
Playing a fiddle, prancing and dancing in the night
The sight of her charms and her music sways hearts
She plays for joy and pleasure, she leaps like a hart.

Across Love's Skies
It started as a feeling which turned into a hoping dart:
Standing beside me I feel you long for my heart.
And in my heart I hear you crying and saying I love you
Even when the world around us forbids us to love so true.
Across the skies I feel it; in my heart this I do keep.
Your love takes wing like birds from the great deep!
This love is vaster than the oceans, more rare than a dragon’s heart.
This love is like the stars in the sky, seen yet held far apart.
I feel you standing beside me and deep inside I hear your vow
Deep in your heart your saying ‘I love you now!’
It rings out like a battle cry a call of a friend in need
And I would answer that cry, but I am chained; withheld to heed.
Across the skies I see it, like the stars I hold it deep.
Our love a flying passion we must keep!
Oh how can I hold this emotion? When will our love part?
I see you hiding this feeling, holding it deep in your heart!
I wish our love could fly, fly on strong wings up high
Soar through the heavens; our hearts so freely nigh!
But yet the world in darkness plagues us with deaths lonely somber sleep
Threatening to chain and slay our deep love forever to keep.
I feel your love like cool wind; see it as diamonds in night’s sky.
I long to hold your heart like you wish too mine.
But our love God must retain
And help us bare our pain.

Firelizard Song
All the fire lizards
Do you see them flitting about?
Be silent, make no noise!
Or they will disappear in flight.
All the fire lizards
Their colors make beauty sing!
The queen gold, her mate bronze,
Their subjects, blue, brown, and green.
All the fire lizards
They like to sing a happy song.
When the clutch is hatching,
They all chime and hum along.
All the fire lizards
Their eyes whirl colors of delight!
When they feel so happy,
They whirl blue and green bright!
All the fire lizards
They often chitter and creel.
They chitter when they gossip,
They creel loudly for their meal
All the fire lizards
They understand and they feel.
They are pleased when you’re near
For your attention is ideal.
All the fire lizards
They are a creature very strange.
They are so delightful!
Gloom for pleasure they exchange.
Do you see them flitting about?
Be silent, make no noise!
Or they will disappear in flight.
All the fire lizards
Their colors make beauty sing!
The queen gold, her mate bronze,
Their subjects, blue, brown, and green.
All the fire lizards
They like to sing a happy song.
When the clutch is hatching,
They all chime and hum along.
All the fire lizards
Their eyes whirl colors of delight!
When they feel so happy,
They whirl blue and green bright!
All the fire lizards
They often chitter and creel.
They chitter when they gossip,
They creel loudly for their meal
All the fire lizards
They understand and they feel.
They are pleased when you’re near
For your attention is ideal.
All the fire lizards
They are a creature very strange.
They are so delightful!
Gloom for pleasure they exchange.
